In Belfast's City cemetery there are many gravesides which are in need of major renovations and the City Council have had to take safety measures to ensure that the general public do not get injured. Some of the monuments are surrounded by hazard tape and bright orange fencing to warn people that the grave is liable to collapse. Such was the example taken on by the We Tidy Graves team recently.
A tall column monument was resting on what appeared to be a few bricks from the original foundation. This has to be made safe. Along with the huge kerbstones on this graveside , one of which had been pushed over by the roots of a tree. The photographs here show in progression the transformation of the graveside.
